City fell to defeat against Queens Park Rangers in their final fixture of the 2023/24 season.
The first attempt on goal fell to the visitors and it was Lucas Andersen who tried his luck from distance, but his shot was held onto by Brad Collins.
At the other end, it was Callum O’Hare who had City’s first sight of goal, forcing Joe Walsh into a fine stop down low to his right.
QPR took the lead after the half-hour mark and it was an unstoppable effort from Ilias Chair from around 25-yards-out that left Collins with no chance.
The Sky Blues went in search of a leveller, and it was Milan van Ewijk with a header in the box that almost found it, but he was denied by a Walsh save.
The hoops doubled their lead before the break when a ball into the box was met by Morgan Fox and he diverted the ball past Collins.
There was time for the Sky Blues to carve out a final opportunity through Jake Bidwell down the left, as he picked out Ellis Simms in the middle, but again it was a Walsh save to keep out City.
HALF-TIME: Sky Blues 0-2 QPR
The Sky Blues came out after the break on the hunt for a way back into the game and they went close when Simms turned his man and let fire from the edge of the area, which was tipped behind.
Another attempt came and it fell to the skipper, Liam Kelly, as he caught the ball sweet from distance, but his shot whistled past the post.
Walsh was frustrating the Sky Blues, as this time he produced another fine stop, keeping out an O’Hare strike from inside of the area.
QPR’s opening goalscorer Ilias Chair came close to adding a third for the visitors, but he was denied by the woodwork from another shot from distance.
City pulled one back with ten minutes remaining and it was substitute Jamie Allen who headed home Haji Wright’s cross for his first goal of the season.
