Friday night action under the lights at the Coventry Building Society Arena sees the Sky Blues up against Peterborough United tomorrow, and goalkeeper Simon Moore spoke about continuing his enjoyable start to the season.

However, despite the Sky Blues’ impressive home form, there will be no complacency among the squad tomorrow night according to Moore.

“In this league anyone can beat anyone,” Simon reiterated.

“It’s just about being consistent, and we’ve been consistent so far. Now we need to carry on doing what we’re doing.

“We’ve done very well so far, but we’re only eight games into the season. It’s easy to get carried away; it’s lovely to get off to such a good start but it’s a forty-six game season and we’ve just got to continue the momentum which we’re on.

“I’m sure there will be plenty of ups and downs by the end of the season but at the moment things are going well, so we’ve just got to carry on working hard and doing what we’re doing.”

Nevertheless, Moore mentioned how the support of the home crowd will greatly help spur on the team once again tomorrow night:

“The crowd has been awesome; the support has been amazing not just at home but away as well.

“I think one of my favourite games so far this season was Blackpool away when the fans were singing the Gus Hamer song for about half an hour after the game!

“It makes such a huge difference to have fans back in the stadium and our fans have been brilliant.”

Moore also praised the Sky Blues for claiming the accolade of joint-best defensive record in the SkyBet Championship so far this season alongside Bournemouth, citing the squad’s strength in depth as a huge factor.

“We’ve got off to a really good start and it’s just about keeping that momentum going,” Moore stated.

“The lads in front of me have been fantastic and when some lads have been injured and others have come in, they’ve done really good jobs as well. I think it’s important to have that strength in depth and it allows that healthy competition which we’ve got. You need that to be successful.”

A hugely positive week of league action for the Sky Blues culminated in a hard-fought 1-1 draw away at Millwall last weekend, and Moore had plenty of praise for his teammates’ efforts:

“The lads have been excellent so we’ve got to continue the good work that we’re doing at the moment.

“I couldn’t have asked the lads in front of me to be any better than they have been; they have been absolutely outstanding.

“We’ve got a really good set of lads, everyone gets on with each other and I think that’s massively important too.

“I’m enjoying my football and I’m really enjoying my time at the club, so long may it continue.”
