Mark Robins confirms that Fabio Tavares will miss the remainder of the season, following an injury he sustained against Manchester United.

Tavares looks set to be out until pre-season, whilst City are still monitoring injuries to Luis Binks, Joel Latibeaudiere and Victor Torp.

The Sky Blues travel to Blackburn Rovers tomorrow afternoon and Robins will be checking in on the fitness of several individuals ahead of his team selection.

Saturday’s fixture at Ewood Park also sees a reunion with defender Kyle McFadzean and the City boss spoke fondly of his former centre-back.

Update on Luis Binks and Joel Latibeaudiere…

“There’s not much change really, they’re still feeling their injuries. (Luis achilles, Joel calf)

“I’ve got to get through training this morning and see where we’re at because there are other players that are in a similar boat now.

“The number of minutes and game time they’ve had is quite remarkable really and we still have three games left to play and they come thick and fast and they’re three really difficult games and there’s something riding on all of them.

“It is what it is and we just have to go with the players that are there and most able to perform at the top level that they possibly can.”

Callum O’Hare and Victor Torp…

“We will take a look today and have a conversation with a few and see where they are at.

“At this stage of the season, it’s tough, but we have jobs to do, and we will get on with it and whoever is available for the game, we will finalise today before we set off for Lancashire.”

The extent of an injury to Fabio Tavares…

“Fabio will be out for a considerable amount of time. He will hopefully be back in at some point during pre-season.

“There’s nothing you can do about it, it’s a significant impact injury and it’s really disappointing for him and for us to.

“He went for a surgical opinion yesterday and there was good news around that, because he doesn’t need surgery and that gives him a bit more comfort knowing he hasn’t got to go through that.

“He will work through the summer and come back as strong as possible. He was devastated to have had to come off at Wembley because he was causing them all sorts of problems, but it’s part of the game unfortunately and hopefully he’s had his share of them.”

Looking back at the last few weeks…

“Everyone is proud of parts of things, but ultimately, we will be disappointed. When we look back at things when we get time, it will change from then on.

“When you have been high achievers for a long time and you get to a stage like that, you know it’s going to be tough and it’s a tough ask.

“The number of the games we’ve had to play in a short amount of time is always a big ask, at the levels we’ve been asked to play at.

“I was really proud of them the other night in terms of the levels they were able to reach, and I was surprised we was able to get to those levels, they gave everything.

“If you give everything at any stage it stands you in good stead and they’ve been through a tough period and a mentally tough period as well.

“When we reflect at the end of the season, we can look back and start to look at what we’ve done and what they’ve done and how we’ve been improved and how we go again next season.”

Facing Kyle McFadzean on Saturday…

“His time here is well documented, and he was absolutely brilliant for us and he’s a top person.

“It was sad to see him go, and everyone felt the same way. He was a stalwart and is highly regarded by the support, staff and the rest of the players and he has a place in this club’s history and the supporters’ hearts forever more and rightfully so.

“He’s a top, top, human being.”
